All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 1 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

The Scriptures are given not to some Christians, but to all. This is telling us something wonderful.

In Old Testament times, God called only a few to be his prophets, priests, and kings. But now every man who is in Christ is “God’s man” and every woman who is in Christ is “God’s woman.” If you are in Christ, you are “God’s man” as much as Moses, Samuel, and David. If you are in Christ, you are “God’s woman” as much as Sarah, Deborah, or Esther.

In Jesus Christ, you are God’s man, God’s woman. You are not your own. You have been bought with a price. God created you and Christ purchased you. The angels in heaven confess: “with your blood you purchased men for God” (Rev. 5:9).

When God speaks to believers, he speaks to us, not as we are by nature, but as we are in Christ.

You don’t find God saying to believers: “You are a miserable, pathetic, failure. You are so weak, helpless and hopeless. When are you going to realize what a miserable failure you are?”

How could that be true of people who are indwelt by the Spirit of God? God does not beat us down, branding us according to our nature. He lifts us up, calling us to be who we are in Christ.

Read through Philippians and ask God to remind you who you are in Christ!
